Dr. Aisha Akhtar is a Board-Certified Colon And Rectal Surgeon and General Surgeon with a fellowship training in Surgical Oncology. Her passion for medicine inspired her to receive a medical degree from the Army Medical College in Pakistan and practiced as board certified general surgeon in her home country until she moved to the United States. At the age of 29, Dr. Akhtar moved to Houston where she completed a surgical oncology fellowship at MD Anderson Cancer Center. She received her general surgery training from Saint Agnes Hospital and colon and rectal surgery fellowship from Greater Baltimore Medical Center. Currently, Dr. Akhtar is a Diplomate of The American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery (ABCRS) and American Board of Surgery.
Dr. Akhtar’s specialties lie in the treatment of benign and malignant anorectal conditions like cancers of the colon and rectum, inflammatory bowel disease, hemorrhoids, anal fissures, anal fistulas, diverticulitis rectocele, colon polyps, Pelvic floor dysfunction, constipation and fecal incontinence. She also treats general surgery conditions like hernia, lumps and gallbladder diseases.She performs screening colonoscopies and advanced robotic and laparoscopic surgeries. She aims to provide the State Of The Art treatment options like Robotic Surgery And The Sacral Nerve Stimulator For Fecal Incontinence to her patients.Dr. Akhtar has also has expertise in office-based procedures including endoscopy, high resolution anoscopy, manometry and hemorrhoid ligation.

She is also certified in The American Board of Medical Quality. She specializes in research and has been published in various medical journals. She has many awards and honors. She was nominated as Hershey Hero for outstanding patient care at Hershey Medical Center, Award for Best Academic Team at Texas Tech University Surgery Residency, Award for Best Surgery Resident at Shifa International Hospital and Awarded Distinctions in Physiology, Biochemistry, Obstetrics & Gynecology at her Medical College. She lives in Scottsdale and in free time enjoys cooking and spending time with her two sons.
